Description:
This boulder strewn group group site at an elevation of 6,000 feet is
located in the tall ponderosa pines and away from other developed
recreation sites in the Prescott National Forest. The trees are thinly
spaced in
some areas which facilitates group activities, RV parking (RVs not
exceeding 40 feet in length), and camping. There are vault toilets, no
utility hookups and no drinking water, or trash collection at this site.

Located just seven miles south of downtown Prescott. North
on I-17 toward Flagstaff. North exit on AZ-69, exit number
262 towards cordes Jct. Rd./Prescott Merge onto AZ-69 going
toward Prescott Valley and Prescott. Once in Prescott take
the US-89 South ramp and merge onto E. Gurley Street. Turn
Left onto Mt. Vernon St. (Mt. Vernon becomes Senator Hwy.) Take the Senator Highway south for about 6 miles. You will pass the entrance to Goldwater Lake and the community of Groom Creek. The pavement will end about 500 feet before you reach Forest Road 97. Turn right onto Forest Road 97 and travel for another 0.75 miles to the group campground on the right of the road. Forest Road 97 is unpaved but is suitable for all vehicles during dry road conditions. |
