Description:
Roper Lake State Park, six miles south of Safford, in southeastern Arizona, can be both inviting and invigorating. At 3,130 feet, it is a great place to swim, fish, picnic, hike and soak away your aches and pains in a natural hot mineral spring. The park covers four hundred acres with two sections: Roper Lake itself and, three miles south, Dankworth Pond.
There is drinking water available and garbage facilities including a dump station. There are modern restrooms with hot showers, tables, and a large ramada with a group fire ring and bbq grills. There is boating (no gas power), fishing, swimming, a natural hot tub, miles of hiking trails and lots of wildlife viewing.

To reach the park, take Highway 60 East from Phoenix to Globe. Follow Highway 70 Southeast
to Safford. Take US Route 191 South for about 5 miles to Roper Lake Rd. go about 1 mile and turn onto
Stockton Rd. to reach the park, approximately six miles south of Safford.
